What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a thin, semi-translucent laminate

permanently bonded to your teeth. While they’re not

suitable for every patient, porcelain veneers are the

most aesthetic alternative for a variety of dental

conditions involving the front teeth, including:

  • Diastemas (spaces between teeth)

  • Broken or chipped teeth

  • Unsightly, stained or washed out fillings

  • Permanently stained or discolored teeth that can’t be bleached

  • Crooked teeth

Patients travel near and far to see Bellevue dentists Dr. Beau Keller and Dr. Andrew Keller who offer beautifully crafted World Class Porcelain Veneers.

Advantages and Benefits of Dental Veneers

There are many benefits and advantages to having porcelain veneers placed on your front teeth:

  • The procedure of placing cosmetic veneers takes only two to three appointments

  • A conservative amount of tooth structure is removed during the porcelain veneer procedure

  • Porcelain veneers are the most biocompatible material you can use next to the gingiva (part of the gum tissue that immediately surrounds the teeth and alveolar bone)

  • A healthy “natural” look is achieved; in fact, porcelain veneers are the most aesthetic restoration in dentistry

How are Cosmetic Veneers different from Bonding or Dental Crowns?

Bonding is a resin filling material that was used for several years to cover the front surface of teeth. Today, we generally use bonding only to fill in small surfaces or cavities and repair chips in teeth. A full dental crown is when a tooth has had root canal treatment, or when a substantial amount of the entire tooth structure (enamel) has been lost. Cosmetic veneers can be placed on teeth to make your smile look natural and beautiful.

How are Porcelain Veneers prepared and placed?

At the first appointment, the teeth are prepared for the dental veneers and an impression is taken. This impression is then sent to a lab where each porcelain veneer is custom made to Dr. Keller’s specifications. Beautiful temporary dental veneers are fabricated to simulate your new smile so you can expect to leave the first appointment looking better than when you came in. These temporary veneers offer a wonderful opportunity to cosmetic dentists to make any slight shape or color changes until the patient is thrilled with the appearance. All information is communicated precisely to the lab so the final look of the veneers will be exactly what they desired. At the second appointment the new porcelain veneers are permanently adhered to the natural teeth.

What to Expect with Dental Veneers

Dental veneers can last indefinitely, depending on how well they are taken care of by the patient. Because porcelain veneers are stronger than simple bonding, they are also more resistant to stains and chipping. Even so, you must maintain regular oral hygiene at home, and visit us for routine cleanings and exams. This is to ensure that your new cosmetic veneers will look as good as new. Another important point is that oral habits that damage natural teeth such as nail biting, opening bobby pins, and chewing on hard objects can also damage your new dental veneers. Once porcelain veneers are applied, just treat them like natural teeth. They look great and are extremely durable.

Dr. Beau and Dr. Andrew have extensive experience with placing cosmetic veneers. We invite you to come to Da Vinci Dental to learn more about dental veneers and find out if porcelain veneers are right for you.

No Prep/Minimal Prep Veneers

No prep or minimal prep veneers are a type of veneer. They are pain free, and can transform your smile in no time. They are extremely thin, and made of a type of porcelain known as E-max . Unlike traditional veneers, these can be applied directly to your teeth. There is no to very little shaving of the tooth, and no anesthesia or shots.

Veneers will give you permanent whitening with no staining or discoloration. You can use these veneers for the purposes of strengthening, shaping, and lengthening teeth. Many adults find this a wonderful option when braces have been considered. If you have a bite that is not too complicated, this type of veneers will change the alignment and shape of your teeth. They will help to restore, straighten and help prevent wear to the natural tooth.

These type of veneers can take a lot more skill when it comes to color management. The shaping of the teeth is trickier as well. This is why you will be at an advantage seeking the specialized skills of Dr. Beau Keller and Dr. Andrew Keller, who have had specific training on placement of these special veneers . Call or text (425) 409-9999 to schedule your consultation with Da Vinci Dental to see if you are a candidate for No prep/Minimal prep veneers .

Gum lift / Recontouring procedure with Porcelain Veneers

A gum lift or gum contouring procedure involves gently removing excess gum tissue by contouring and shaping the gummy section of your smile. Using a laser Cosmetic Dentists Dr. Beau Keller and Dr. Andrew Keller, will gently sculpt the gum level removing the gummy part and reshape your smile in this fast and painless cosmetic procedure. The result is a much bigger, whiter, and more gorgeous smile. This procedure is also very often used in combination with a smile makeover using porcelain veneers. The gum lift helps to ensure symmetry and smoothness to the overall smile result.

When too much gum tissue grows down covering the teeth, the smile appearance becomes too gummy and the teeth appear too small. This often happens as a natural genetic occurrence. In other instances it occurs while wearing braces, because of hormone changes, or as a side effect of some medications.

The smile is made up of more than just teeth. We understand that all the aspects of the smile have to be in balance and harmony for the smile to be at its best. One of the most often-overlooked and misunderstood parts of the smile are the gums. At Da Vinci Dental, we recognize that if the gums are too far down or if they’re uneven, your smile is not going to be as good as it can be.

By using a simple procedure, using a dental laser, we can even the gums and get them in better harmony, and make your smiles as good as can be. The gum lift is really a very simple procedure. It allows us to create a better balance between the smile when using the dental laser.
